76 weeks and 3 days | Me and Mine {August}

This months ‘Me and Mine photos will certainly be some of the most memorable in years to come.

This August — having been to SO many festivals as a couple — we took our children for the very first time.

Many would balk at the idea of taking two tiny people to a 4 day festival but this is something we’d dreamt about for so long and it didn’t disappoint!!

It was more tiring than usual, as we were constantly having to watch our little charges.

Unbelievable — you truly need eyes in the back — and sides — of your head!! There was SO much for them to see and do.

As an adult, a festival is an assault on the senses; a feast for the eyes. So much colour and so many interesting things to look at. But for a tiny little person — who’s only been on the earth for just 17 months — it must be nothing short of magical.

They ran about — as free as little birds (or sea-horses actually) — taking in all of the sights, sounds and smells. Laughing at their mama and daddy, who spent most of one day dressed as jellyfish.

Bertie would walk about 10-15 feet away before turning back to check that we were still there. Sometimes he’d lose his sense of direction and become disorientated — then we’d move to his line of vision, smiling and his face would break into a big grin then he’d come toddling back. Only to repeat the process immediately after!

Cosmo was a different kettle of fish entirely.

From the first hour of the first day we got there, he wandered off.

With no thought for us, he walked around, taking everything in; stopping only to look at people or things that caught his eye. A little adventurer; his daddy followed him, unseen, for almost 3 minutes at one point. He didn’t look back once!

It was an absolute joy to see our little Twinkles in such a free and happy environment. We LOVE festivals. We love the uninhibitedness, the colour, the atmosphere, the delicious sense of freedom that you feel for those few days. We have always looked at other couples at festivals with their children and envied them.

Children are at their happiest when they are entertained, when they are learning new things, when they are with their parents, when they see their parents laughing or dancing or loving each other. Festivals offer ALL of these things and it was a joyful experience for us all.
